Welcome:
Jomolahri Trekking Bhutan |
|
Jomolhari Trek I is the longer one of the two Jomolhari routes- and the most
popular trek in Bhutan. With altitude differences of 2,500m and nearly 5,000m
(lowest and highest point of the route), it offers a wide range of landscape,
fauna and flora.
The highlight of this trek is the spectacular view of Mount Jomolhari from Jomolhari Basecamp, Jangothang. Nearly the whole trek goes
through a small part of the Jigme Singye National Park, passing a few of the Yak
herder's settlement and the remotest region of Lingshi. One should be reasonably
physically fit to enjoy the majestic mountain views, endure thin air, serenity &
the wilderness of the landscape while on the trek.
There is very little
tourist traffic on the pristine trekking routes in Bhutan. This is primarily a
positive offshoot of the Bhutanese government's policy limiting tourists to 5000
a year. Naturally one has a pleasant sensation of breaking fresh ground on treks
in Bhutan. The chomolhari trek follows the crystal clear trout rich upstream
trail of Para Chu along the verdant rhododendron canopied forests and salubrious
green alpine meadows.
Mt. Chomolhari, having one of the most beautiful peaks in
the Eastern Himalayan, stands at a magnificent (7314m) with age old frontier
forts and sprawling yak pastures in its foreground; a truly rewarding sight for
the determined trekker. One the course of the trek, one will have sojourned
through several places rich in history in Paro, Thimphu and Punakha .
