Makalu Base Camp Trekking Nepal

Trip Overview

Makalu Base Camp Trekking offers an exceptional opportunity to explore high-altitude terrains, snow-clad landscapes and ethnic Himalayan lifestyle. Makalu Base Camp Trekking is One of the most remote area hiking destinations in eastern part of Nepal. Our journey begins with an hour-long flight to Tumlingtar whereas the real trekking starts from Chichila. The lower reaches of the trail are renowned for their lushness with verdant rhododendron forests whereas the upper reaches of the trail comprise of polished granite cliffs capped by hanging glaciers, overflowing with waterfalls.

Makalu Base Camp Trekking

Makalu Base Camp Trekking follows the Barun Barun National Park. Barun Barun National Park was established in 1992 as Nepal’s eighth national park. It covers 2,330 sq km which contains some of the last remaining areas of pristine forests and alpine meadows in Nepal. From the bottom of the Arun Valley, mountains rise from just 435m (1,430ft) above sea level to the lofty snow capped peak of Makalu at 8463m (27,760ft). Makalu Base Camp Trekking passes through a wide diversity of ecosystems and cultures. Communities of Rai farmers give way to Sherpa and Bhotia villages as altitude is gained. These peoples live in isolated villages much as they have for centuries. Their livelihoods depend upon animal fodder, fuel, food, housing materials, fertilizers and medicine.

Spring (March – May) and Autumn (September – November) are the best months for Makalu Base Camp Trekking. Although Makalu Base Camp Trekking can be taken during winter, the cold temperature might not be suitable for everyone. If given Makalu Base Camp Trek itinerary is not suitable for you, we design another itinerary as per your desire and duration of holidays. If you need more information about Makalu Base Camp Trek please fell free to contact us.

We planned properly to show your Makalu Himalayan ecological beauties. We welcome to join us to see the pristine natural beauties of Malalu Barun National Park.
