Nagarjun Nature Reserve is a part of Shivapuri National Park. It is also famously known as Raniban (Queen Forest). Nagarjun lies in northwest of Kathmandu Valley. It is just outside of the ring road. From Fulbari Gate, the trail gains 700m within a walking distance of 5km with almost stone stair cases. The nature walk is one of the best options to away couple of hours from busy city life. On the eastern flank of the mountain is Nagarjuna’s meditation cave and the spring he brought forth. Very close on the north sides are the stupas of Shakyamuni’s father, Suddhodaha and his mother Maya Devi. On the eastern side of the peak is the place of Buddha Makhya [Mahe, the Buffalo Buddha]. Here is the soil which halumanjhu [Hanuman], the monkey king brought Vulture Peak. There are five stupas here. Today, there is Tibetan Charnal ground here. (click here for source information). The views of Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Jugal, Dorje Lakpa and Choba Bhamre, Gaurishakkar among others are incredible from the Jamacho Peak.
Nagarjun peak is also famous for rock climbing. There are about 20 routes on a limestone cliff. Those routes range from about 50 feet to 80 feet in height.
