The Home stay program allows
visitors to Nepal to stay with Nepalese family. The Home stay participant
lives with the family -- sleeping in a Nepali home, taking their meals with the
family, and maybe even touring the city or celebrating a holiday or birthday
with them. The program provides a unique opportunity to learn about Nepali
culture, make new friends and extended family, and provide direct assistance to
the Nepali people, many of whom are saving for their children’s future
education.
The program is designed and managed by the Eco-friendly
Nepal (ECON) to generate funds for this non profit making social
organization. ECON keeps a file of families that have extra space in their
homes, and would like to rent them to visitors to Nepal. We have information
about the number of bedrooms, bathrooms, family members, and even smoking and
vegetarian preferences.
The price varies by the
family (depending on the home), but most homes are about USD9 to USD12 a day (this
includes 2 meals). This money goes directly to the family through a non
profit social organization naming Eco-friendly Nepal
after deducting its management costs.
