Dhaulagiri Circuit Trekking Details Itinerary

 
Day 01 Upon your arrival in KATMANDU(1000m/3280ft) Eco-friendly Trekking will officially greet and meet you at Airport & transfer to you Hotel Shanker. Free day & evening welcome dinner at any typical Nepalese Restaurant.
Day 02 Half day guided city tours (tour includes Katmandu Durbar Square, Syambunath Stupa, Pashupati Nath Temple - Hindu Temple & Buddha Nath - The biggest Buddha Stupa in ancent Katmandu). Afternoon pre-trip discussion of next day trek.
Day 03 Kathmandu to Beni by Private Transport it takes around 8/9 Hours on smooth Drive. O/N At Beni
Day 04 Beni-Babichaur (1000m) After leaving the Kali Gandaki River you enter in the Myagdi Khola valley.
Day 05 Babichaur-Dharapani (1565m) Tonight you will camp in Dharapani 1565m, and the Dhaulagiri is no more so far.
Day 06 Dharapani-Muri (1850m) The path goes steep up to Muri 1850 m, where the Mt. Dhaulagiri and other mountains appear clearly.
Day 07 Muri-Boghara (2050m) From Muri the trail is easy and goes down for few hours but before to reach Boghara you have to climb a steep path for a couple of hours.
Day 08 Boghara-Dhoban (2630m) Today the path is quite difficult and sometime you will need the help of the ropes. Watch your step.
Day 09 Dhoban-Italien Base camp (3500m) Today you will reach the Italian Base Camp where you will camp just in front of the West wall of the Dhaulagiri. Passing through beautiful forest we rapidly gain altitude and mountains burst out all around.
Day 10 Rest day. A rest day for acclimatization. Since there is little exploring to be had, this is a day to relax because tomorrow we will have a tough day.
Day 11 Italian Base camp- Glacier camp (4250m) After crossing the first glacier, probably using a rope in a couple of tricky spots, we climb onto the main glacier. The surroundings are spectacular, which makes up for the rough and dangerous trail.
Day 12 Dhaulagiri Base camp (4650m) Today you will reach the Dhaulagiri Base Camp. Soon the rough rubble gives way to the smooth ice of the white part of the glacier. We climb steadily to the rough and chilling but spectacular Dhaulagiri Base Camp.
Day 13 Rest day. Acclimatization day. In the next day you will be constantly at an altitude of 5000 - 60000 m, so this day is essential.
Day 14 Dhaulagiri Base Camp – French Col – Hidden Valley Getting off the glacier above the base camp often requires a rope, but once over the steep moraine walls we are in safer and more gentle country. After a breathless climb to the top of Fren
Day 15 Hidden Valley Camp 5000m A rest day to admire the surrounding peaks and perhaps do some exploring.
Day 16 Hidden Valley - Yak Kharka After climbing over the 5200m Dhampus Pass, we traverse avalanche prone slopes and then descends steeply to Yak Kharka.
Day 17 Yak Kharka – Marpha More steep descent leads to Marpha and a well-deserved beer over lunch.
Day 18 MARPHA - Lete (2438m) We start trek from a lovely village of whitewashed houses and fertile fields, and continue down the Kaligandaki reaching the former Thakali trading centre of Tukche. As the trail continues, the Himalayan rain shadow.
Day 19 Lete - TATOPANI (1190m) A beautiful walk, with another transition into sub-tropical vegetation and the return of water buffalo, banyan trees and poinsettias. The trail follows the river through a narrow gorge and descends to cross a bridge.
Day 20 Rest day in Tatopani , enjoy with hot spring.
Day 21 TATOPANI - GHOREPANI (2819m) Steadily climbing all day, we eventually leave behind the terraced fields and walk through thick rhododendron forest to the village of Ghorepani, meaning (horse water). We camp at the pass for the best views of the sunset.
Day 22 GHOREPANI - TADAPANI Being of the early morning 5:30 AM wake up and start to you journey climb to Poon Hill (3195m) around 1 hr. to provides better unobstructed views and sunrise over the high Himalayas. You can see a lots of white mountain peaks.
Day 23 TADAPANI - LANDRUNG Served the breakfast in the morning and start your journey, 8:00 AM to Landrung, it takes approx.: 6 hours. From Tadapani, the trails descends through the forests then terraced fields, to the Khummu Khola.
Day 24 LANDRUNG - DHAMPUS From Landrung, It's an easy walk past fields, a school and some unusual oval shaped houses and descends to Tolka a small settlement at 1710 metres, with several lodges along the trails.
Day 25 DHAMPUS - POKHARA From Dhampus, all the way downhill through the village to Phedi. Starting at an elevation of 1580 metres, in a village and then forests that is so overgrazed that is look like a manicured municipal park.
Day 26 Pokhara to Kathmandu by Private Transport it takes around 5/6 Hours O/N Kathmandu.

Days 01 : Arrive at Tribhuwan international airport, Kathmandu, you are welcomed by the hospitable meeting and then you will be transferred to your hotel. Short briefing will be followed about necessary formalities and rest of the program. Depending on arrival time you will have choice of visiting nearby sanctuaries or have a rest day.

Days 02 : After breakfast we drive to Swoyambhunatha stupa has it that Manjushree, found of Kathmandu valley, and discovered the lotus of ancient valley lake on which site the great stupa of swoyambhunath was later built. The omni sighted stare of Buddha greets visitors & residents a like compassion. This is one of the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world, which has been registered in UNICEOO heritage side. We then visit to Kathmandu Durbar Square. Kathmandu durbar square situated the center of Kathmandu where you can see the House of Living Goddess”KUMARI” Kasthamandup temple” Said that was built from single tree in 16th century, big bell-big drams, erotic carving in old temple, old palace etc. We then finally were sightseeing to Patan Durbar Square. Patan Durbar square is one of the beautiful Durbars square in Kathmandu valley. It is very famous for woodcarving, Metal works, Temples and Monasteries. Tour of Patan includes tour of Krishna temple, Patan king’s palace, Golden temple and much more.

Days 03 : You have breakfast being of the early morning before 7:00 AM. This morning you will be drive to Pokhara (200km), departure at 7:00 AM in the morning, approximately 6hrs away by tourist bus. You will be arriving late afternoon at Pokhara approximately 2:00 O’clock. From the Pokhara valley you can see one of the most beautiful Himalayan panoramas in the world. The Annapurna and famous "Fishtail" mountain peak of Machhapuchhare tower over the tropical setting of Pokhara and you spend there will be the scenic highlight of your trip. You're free in Pokhara valley also called "Magic Land" or Dreamland" of Nepal, to explore the various interesting place as your own like boating in Fewa lake over looking the region of Annapurna range of Himalayas. In the evening you will prepare yourself for your trek to Around Dhaulagiri trek.

Days 04 : Drive after breakfast to Beni and start trek. From Beni pass Beni Mangalghat where there is a row of shops then enter a desolate mountainside. Pass Jyanmara which consists of a single teahouse, after the mountain path, follow a wide level path. Houses increase as you approach singa with its shops and teahouses. Camp on the school ground, side of the Myagdi Khola.

Days 05 : Follow a raised path above the riverbed, pass a hot spring below to the left, and enter cultivated fields to a wide path that leads to Tatopani. Ten minutes beyond this village, cross a suspension bridge to the right bank, pass the tiny village of Bholamza and go through fields to another suspension bridge which returns you to the left bank. Pass by Simarchor a little further on and cross the suspension bridge over the Newale Khola that flows in from the right. Follow the Myagdi Khola left bank path past the small villages of Shisman and Talkot; climb a bit to Babichor with its shops and teahouses. Cross a high, winding path on a mountainside out Babichor. Terraced hills develop in the wide valley, paddies become plentiful and the path is easy to walk, being either flat or gently ascending. Pass stone paved Shahasdara cross Dukh khola and continue amid paddies. After Ratorunga with its shop and tea house the wide terraced hills end. Follow a path along the river pass Bodeni to Chachare with its teahouse. The terraced hills disappear on the opposite bank as well and the left bank of the narrow valley gently undulates up and down as you arrive at the large village of Darbang with its rows of shops.

Days 06 : Cross a suspension bridge to the right bank, pass the tributary ritum khola to your left as you go to the right through the hamlet of Darbang. Follow the right bank path along the river at the base of stone cliffs to phedi (1100m) with its two teahouses. Just beyond the phedi, cross the Dang khola, which flows from the left, and begin to climb a ridge on the opposite bank? As you zig and zag up a steep hill, the angel of incline gradually eases; soon you enter a mountainside on the myagdi khola side from the pine-covered ridge path to Dharapani, a heavily populated village. Once again climb a steep slope after which you descend a mountain path past Takum where cultivated fields spread over the wide mountain flank. You arrive at the village of Shibang and camp on grassy ground.

Days 07 : From Shibang you pass through a forest and continue past mattim up an incline to the snout of ridge where Dhaulagiri Himal is visible. Descend to the gatti khola,then skirt around the ridge to phalai gaon (1810) is on a mountainside partially penetrated by the tributary Dhara khola. To go to Muri, follow the stone-welled path a short way beyond Phalai goun, enter the terraced fields to the right and cross the Dhara khola via a suspension bridge. If it is the dry season, descend the valley next to the school, walk to the opposite bank, and climb the steep hill for a short cut. The main path ascends the mountainside from the suspension bridge, passes below the village of Dhara and goes through a hamlet to an up and down mountain path to join with the shortcut described above. Though this is the long way the path is better. Follow the mountain path and skrit around the ridge, emerging once again to the right bank of the Myagdi khola. The mountain path continues, winding uphill, and when you skirt around a ridge, a vista of Dhaulagiri 1 (8167m) and Gurja himal (7193m) opens up. Reach the large village of Muri where the houses of the Magar clan closely together.

Days 08 : Descend a gentle slope, and cross a rocky stream. Descend a path amid terraced fields to Dhora khola. Cross the river and climb to the right up the mountainside to Ghorban dhara. The view from this pass is fine, for the first time you can see Ghustung south (6465m). Follow the right bank path past Naura where you begin to ascend the mountainside. After climbing for a short while, take a path that traverses the steep grass-covered hill. The Myagdi khola assumes a steep-walled V-shape as the traverse ends and a high, winding path climbs the steep, grassy slope. The steep slope with not tolerates any missteps but the path is well constructed with a great number of zigzag stone step paths. At last the long climb ends, and you enter a traverse to the right here you must also beware of falling into the gorge of the Myagdi khola. Soon you descend through a forested area, emerging to a ridge snout where Bagara (2080) is visible. Descend through terraced fields to this mountain village where you camp in people's yards or the terraced fields.

Days 09 : Here we leave the villages behind and the trial becomes increasingly challenging.

Days 10 : Passing through the beautiful forest we rapidly gain altitude and mountains burst out all around.

Days 11 : After crossing the first glacier, probably using a rope in a couple of tricky spots, we climb onto the main glacier. The surroundings are spectacular which makes up for the rough and dangerous trail. We may also use a rope on this section. This is a particularly tough day. We camp on the glacier rubble.

Days 12 : Soon the rough rubble gives way to the smooth ice of the white part of the glacier. We climb steadily to the rough and chilling but spectacular Dhaulagiri Base Camp.

Days 13 : (5000m): Getting off the glacier above the base camp often requires a rope, but once over the steep moraine walls we are in safer and gentler country. After a breathless climb to the top of French Col (5300m,) the views of Hidden Valley open out. The broad valley is reminiscent of Tibet and Ladakh and so are the temperatures, at least -20 degree centigrade at night.

Days 14 : A rest day to admire the surrounding peaks and perhaps do some exploring.

Days 15 : After climbing over the (5200m) Dhampus Pass, we traverse avalanche-prone slopes and then descend steeply to Yak Kharka.

Days 16 : More steep descent leads to Marpha and a well-deserved beer over lunch.

Days 17 : Continue down the Kali Gadaki reaching the old Thakali trading central of Tukuche. As the trail continues, the Himalayan rain shadow end and open spaces make way for coniferous forest and Kalopani (2500m.) From here there are spectacular 360-degree views of Dhaulagiri and the Annapurnas high above.

Days 18 : A beautiful walk, with another transition into subtropical vegetation and the return of water buffalo. The trail follows the river through a narrow gorge, and descends to cross a bridge near a spectacular waterfall, before winding through the valley to Tatopani. The hot water spring that give the village its name provide the perfect opportunity for a good' scrub.

Days 19 : Still walking along Kaligandaki river after crossing the bridge and Bega Khola ascend steep up hill via Ghara and Shika. After long day climb arrived at Ghorepani.

Days 20 : Wake up early morning and climb up to Poon hill from where can see from Dhaulagiri range to Mustang range. During the Sun rise panoramic views with colorful mountains. Again walk down to hotel and after breakfast walk up hill towards Tadapani. Climb with Mountain views again through Rhododendron forest. After the top path goes along the ridge and Trail descends steeply through dense moss-covered forest rich with bird life. A short early-morning climb to the Deurali pass for a spectacular panorama over Dhaulagiri and the Annapurnas, and to Tadapani for beautiful sunset views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhare.

Days 21 : This is short trek. Trial descends steeply through dense damp forest, where you may see monkeys, and continues down over a series of rock-cut steps that follow a leaping stream. Arrive in Ghandrung and explore the maze like streets of this thriving Gurung Settlement.

Days 22 : Walk down after village via Kimche to Shauli Bazar. Gentle walk rest of the day via Birethati to Newbridge and drive back to Pokahara over night at hotel.

Days 23 : After this trip can join with other trip like, Rafting, Jungle Safari or Pilgrim tour if not fly or drive back to Kathmandu.

Days 24 : After breakfast drive to Pashupatinath. The holiest of holy Hindu temple in south Asia is the focal point of pilgrimage from all over the sub-continent. The holy river Bagmati flowing nearby is the cremation ground of the Hindus. Funeral pyres can be viewed from across the riverbank. We then visit to Boudhanath stupa. Probably the largest stupa in the world is also found in Kathmandu valley the great stupa of Boudhanath. Again the omni-sighted eyes of the Budha stare all the directions. This stupa is the place of worship of Tibetan Buddhists predominantly. We then drive to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Bhaktapur is one of the oldest cities in Kathmandu valley. It is well known as Living Museum. Old brick paved enclave of old Royal palace, Nyathapola Temple, Datatriya temple exquisite artwork offers a picture of the grandeur of medieval Nepal. It is very famous for woodcarving and pottery products. Then after we have short visit to Changunarayan temple. This is one of the oldest Hindu temples in Kathmandu valley that exists in the valley dating back to the 4th century.

Days 25 : After breakfast you will have some free time until the time to leave the international airport for your final departure.
