Rara Lake Trekking

Jumla is a trans-Himalayan valley with high ridges covered with forests and alpine pastures. The one and a half hour flight from Kathmandu to Jumia that passes through the south of the Dhaulagiri range, is itself a revelation of a large section of Nepal’s western landscape. Jumla town (2,340 m) is located in a delightful valley and the villages nearby have many archaeological monuments dating back to medieval times. From Jumla, Rara Lake trekking heads along the broad valley of Tila River.

Rara Lake lies further 28 kilometres north from the town of Jumla and can be reached normally in four days. The large lake, at an altitude of 2,980 metres, is perched on a high shelf on the northern flank of Ghurchi Lekh (4,067 m). Rara, the oval- shaped lake has a water surface of nearly eight square kilometres with hills of pine and rhododendrons around it. The peaceful surroundings are enhanced by the reflection of Ghurchi Lekh in its blue waters. Due north, Chankheli peak (4,201 m) looms large across the deep Mugu Karnali gorge.

We planned Rara Lake trekking itinerary aiming to show you Rara and western Himalayan ecological beauties which is conserved in Rara National Park and surrounding. Join our Rara Lake trekking to enjoy with local natural beauties, the floras and faunas!
