Tibet is located at the southwest frontier of China with a vase land of more than 1.2 million square kilometers. Tibet borders with India, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Burma and neighbors with Qinghai, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Yunnan. Tibet has a total population of more than 2.56 million, among which Tibetan takes up 94.7%. Other main nationalities include Hon, Menba, Luoba, Hui, Naxi etc.

Since the late 1970s the Chinese and Tibetan mountaineering associations have been issuing permits to foreign climbers for mount Everest and twenty other summits. The majority of these mountains are part of the high Himalayas between Everest and Shishapangma, though several other interesting 7000-meter and 6000-meter peaks have been opened on other regions of Tibet.

There are only three major peaks in Tibet which the Tibet Mountaineering Department has given permission for climbing. According to Buddhist Philosophy every mountain is sacred and should not be touched by human feet. One of these mountains is Everest which can also be climbed from the Nepal side, the other 2 are Cho-Oyu (8201 meters) and Shishpangma (8013 meters), neither of these giants are technically difficult but any mountain over 8000 meters (only 14 in the World) demands the greatest respect and those participating in either of these climbing programs will need to be of a high standard of fitness. Our climbing team are vastly experienced all having participated in numerous Expeditions in Nepal, Tibet and India.
