Your journey begins as you leave the capital city. You will be traveling on the bus from Kathmandu to Beni. Starting your trek from Beni, the trek ends in Jomsom, from where you will take a flight to Pokhara. You can also look at our detailed itinerary to know more about the destination.
Is Mardi Himal Trek hard?
The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is approximately 41 kilometers long and requires 5 to 6 hours of trekking per day. The hike takes you to an elevation of 4,500 meters. However, the length and timeframe are not particularly difficult or demanding.
The trail passes through moderately steep and rough terrain. This trek will be medium-level for those who have never trekked in the Himalayas—being physically active before your trek can benefit you throughout your journey. However, once you reach the Mardi Himal viewpoint with all the precautions, you forget all the difficulties. The climb will be well worth it because of the spectacular view of the mountains.
Mardi Himal Trek Permit
For the Mardi Himal Trek permit, you require an ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project) permit, which is available from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) in Kathmandu and Damside in Pokhara.
There are two types of permits: ACAP permits and TIMs cards. These permits will be required in the various areas of the Annapurna Conservation Area. Your permit fee will be used to improve the conservation area and the community.
Note: Please keep 4-6 passport-size photographs with you, which will be asked for while making government documents.
Itinerary
Our trekking adventure begins with the 30 minutes of ride from Pokhara to Phedi. Phedi is a gorgeously rural village located in a lush forest.
We then start our trek passing through stone steps and terraced fields and the village takes you to the Dhampus. We will then continue our walk and reach Deurali. This small is located on the ridge with a fantastic view of Mardi Himal, Fishtail, Annapurna South, and many more.
You will start a new day after the early breakfast. Today the trial will cross through a dense forest decorated with red rhododendrons. You will see many rhododendron trees in the woods, which only bloom from April to June. You will walk into the quiet forest until the Forest Camp.
We set off after the early morning breakfast for the Low Camp. We will cross through the dense forest, enjoying the lush biodiversity and low camp. Today your eyes will fest the astonishing view of mountains like Mt. Fishtail, Mt. Mardi, Annapurna range, and many more.
Our sixth day of walking will take you to the High Camp. From Low Camp, you will see a fantastic view of Mt. Fishtail. Further ahead, we will ascend to Badal Danda and finally to High Camp. from Badal Danda to High Camp; it will take about 1 hour to walk into the mesmerizing landscape.
Today we will wake up early in the morning than on other days. We will hike up to the Mardi Himal viewpoint before breakfast for a fantastic sunrise view. The ascend will be more complex than on different days, but you will be rewarded tremendously for the sunrise view over the white peaks.
As you reach the top, enjoy the view of the mountain peaks and the sun getting higher in the sky. We will then be back to High Camp for breakfast. After breakfast, we will return to Low Camp by the same route.
Today we take a different route from the high camp to Siding village for more experience. This route allows us to explore the variety of flora & fauna and ethnic villages. Overnight in Siding Village.
