Trip Introduction

Overview of Lumba Sumba Pass Trek

The Lumba Sumba Pass Trek is a new journey that was just found lately. It goes from the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area to the Makalu Barun National Park, which has many different kinds of plants and animals. The Lumba Sumba Peak (5,300m) and the Makalu and Kanchenjunga mountain ranges are two of the best parts of this trip.

As we said, this path takes us through the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area and the Makalu Barun National Park, which are two of Nepal’s best-protected areas. You can also trek to the base camps of Kanchenjunga and Makalu from this path.

Trekkers can see things like monasteries, chhortens, temples, and prayer walls, as well as towns from different ethnic groups (Limbu, Sherpa, Rai, Gurung, and Tamang).

The best things about the place are the endangered animals, like the snow leopard and the red panda. The base camps of Mount Kanchenjunga and Mount Makalu and the big river systems are also great. The path continues through alpine grasslands, rocky outcrops, thick temperate and subtropical forests, and low river valleys.

This trek is hard because it goes through a lot of different landscapes and has tracks that are sometimes rough and in bad shape. Because of this, it is best for people who want to do this trek to have done it before.

Because of how wild the mountain is, we won’t find any settlements on the way to Lumba Sumba Pass, which will take several days. The river system made up of the Tamor and Arun rivers is also a big attraction. The big Sapta Koshi River gets most of its water from these two rivers.

During this part of the walk to the Lumba Sumba pass, it is hard to find a place to camp. There are not many good places to camp, and only a few small kharkas are around.

Acclimatization was the focus of our ninth day of trip. We knew how important it was to acclimatize to the new atmosphere, so we stopped our regular activities to focus on it. Acclimatization helps our body adjust to new environments and reduces risk, especially in unfamiliar or high-altitude places.

During the acclimatization, we will be ready mentally and physically for further high altitude trek. We took our time to adjust to the altitude, climate, and other environmental factors that could affect our health. Our respiratory and circulatory systems needed time to adjust to the thinner air and lower oxygen levels and function properly in the coming days.
