Many adventure lovers might have heard about the beautiful Solukhumbu district as the home of the highest peak, Mount Everest, or the popular EBC trek. Thousands of tourists and adventure lovers visit this district every year for trekking around the Everest Himalayas. Mostly, the upper part of Solukhumbu, also known as the Khumbu region, is popular for tourism. But the lower side of the Solukhumbu is still dark.
But the lower Solukhumbu has given you a gift for those who want an easy trek to view the snow ranges of Everest. Lower Solukhumbu is introducing the new low-altitude trekking trail, “’Everest Dudh Koshi Cultural Trail,” at Mapya Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality.
Solukhumbu district has immense potential in terms of both long and short-trekking destinations. A few years back, lower Solukhumbu also gifted us Pikey Peak and the Dudhkunda Trek, which display the mesmerizing view of many eight-thousanders and other small Himalayas. Just a few months ago, another trial was added to the list and branded by Everest Dudh Koshi Cultural Trail, which launched new possibilities for this region.
A brochure and trekking trail map are also released during the inauguration program. During the launch of the trial, there was an introductory tour for workers, journalists, and stakeholders. They went on five-day treks from November 28th and returned on December 2nd to know the beauty of the trail. This program was inaugurated by the Member of Parliament of Koshi Province, Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari. The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) are also partners in this program.
More About Everest Dudh Koshi Cultural Trail
We will take a bus and head towards the headquarters of Solukhumbu, which is Salleri Bazar. The trail passes through Siliguri Hill, Mera Gumba, Kidam Hill, Yotelmye, and finally reaches Siliguri. It takes around 5 days to complete this trial and be back in Kathmandu. If you want to extend your holiday, then explore more towards Mera Peak and the Everest Base Camp Trek. You also do not need to take the Lukla flight to complete the trek, which saves you money. During the peak season, foreigners have to spend many dollars to fly from Manthali or Kathmandu to Lukla.
During the newly found trail, you can enjoy the cultural and day-to-day lifestyle of the Khaling (Rai), Sherpa, Tamang, and Magar communities. You will find numerous homestays and teahouses in Salleri and Goth in Siliguri to stay. Sometimes, you will also get a chance to eat and stay in the monastery.
You will also find a shelter house in Yotelmye, where there is no food. You have to bring food, cook, and eat by yourself in the shelter. A normal teahouse can be found as you reach Adheri village. From there, you can drive and stay in Siliguri or Salleri.

Rock Climbing Wonders Await Your Grip
A new development in Mapya Dudhkoshi has opened up a new path for walking and an opportunity for rock climbing. A project is underway to make Mahavir, which is in Ward No. 5, a world-famous rock climbing spot. There is a hundred-meter-tall hill where the rock climbing facilities have been carefully built. The Mountain Guide Association of Nepal (MOGAN) helped plan the rock climbing route, which was a very complicated process.
The first rock climbing event took place on January 1, 2024. As part of this project, MOGAN has taught 12 young people in the area how to rock climb. The natural preserves are conveniently close to the roads, so they can attract nature lovers from all over the world.
